At Lerida Estate they like to mix
the joy of food and wine with some
entertainment, and with their exceptional
Petanque courts everyone can play. In
conjunction with the Capital Pentanque
Club, the winery will be holding the
PFA-sponsored Lerida Cup (a doubles
Pentanque tournament), as well as a social
competition for those who just want to
have a bit of fun. On September 19 and
20 you can enjoy this social weekend and
try out the French sport that is suitable
for almost all ages and abilities. Meet
some new people, enjoy the food on offer
and just wind down.
On Saturday, September 26, Old
Parliament House will host the Canberra
District Wine and Regional Food Dinner.
This dinner will feature the 14 Canberra
District wines that have recently been
listed by James Halliday in his Top 100
Wines of NSW, and includes Lerida
Estate's Shiraz Viognier.
Anne Caine is excited about the recent
recognition of the wine district.
"...(It) is an extraordinary achievement
for a small wine district like the Canberra
District. This dinner will be attended by
the ACT Minister for Tourism, Andrew
Barr, who is a great supporter of the local
wine region," she said.
The events don't end there with spring
bursting with events. A highlight will
be Paddock to Plate. This celebration of
regional food and wine will be held on
Sunday, September 27 at Fedra Olive
Grove, Federal Highway, Collector, and
Anne is delighted to say that Lerida
Estate will be involved.
The team at Lerida Estate don't ever
seem to stop, and they will be hard at
work to prepare for a staple of the wine
tasting season -- the Wine, Roses and
all that Jazz Festival on November 7-8.
Make the most of the opportunity and
get out to one of the 25 wineries involved
to sample award-winning wines, indulge
in gourmet food, relax to live music in
the vineyards, take a wine tour and meet
Canberra's passionate vignerons.
Wine, Roses and all that Jazz is an
event best enjoyed with friends. The
festival will feature musical acts at
Lerida Estate -- Saturday, November 7
will feature As Famous as the Moon from
12.30-3.30pm and on Sunday, November
8 you can enjoy Milena Cifali, one of
Australia's leading classical guitarists/
composers, from 12.30-3.30pm.
This mixture of food, wine and music
is a combination that works extremely
well and offers the perfect atmosphere for
wine lovers to experience the joys that can
be discovered among the vines.
In Canberra, we are spoilt for choice
when it comes to wineries, and there are
plenty to pick from -- so make the most
of this wine season and explore the local
district for delightful food, exceptional
wines and generous entertainment.
