Commonwealth Park is the place to be
this Australia Day and there will be
fun and excitement for the whole family.
The national day of celebration kicks
off at 7.30am with the Great Aussie
Day Breakfast, proudly sponsored by
ActewAGL and the Fyshwick Fresh Fruit
Between 10-10.30am witness the flag
raising ceremony at Citizenship Place.
To get your heart racing, there will
be an F/A-18 flyover to kick off the
From midday, Canberrans can enjoy the
amazing Children's Festival, live and free
at Stage 88. Alongside the entertainment
on stage, the little ones can enjoy rides,
playing in a sandpit and games with the
Gecko Gang throughout the afternoon.
Crowd favourites including The Dorothy
the Dinosaur Show and Milo the Clown
will keep the kids entertained from 12-3pm.
Pro skaters and BMX riders from
Monster Park in Sydney will conduct
workshops as part of the Australia Day
Jam, specifically designed for young adults
and kids, with some great local bands
performing live on Stage 88 from 3pm.
From 6pm, enjoy the pre-fireworks
entertainment on the shores of Lake
Burley Griffin. The best vantage points are
at Regatta Point, and on the lawns of the
National Library of Australia, so be sure
to get there early to get your spot for the
dazzling fireworks display which promises
to be a fitting way to end an action-packed
Australia Day in the capital.
Why not bring your own picnic and
spread out on the lawn, or enjoy the
range of delicious food and drinks on sale
throughout the day?

Australia Day Live kick starts
the celebrations right around the
nation and you can take part in
the excitement on the lawns of
Parliament House. Australia Day
Live is a tribute to everything that
is great about Australia and being
Australian. The concert will feature
an all star line-up of home grown
talent who will rock the
crowd on Australia Day eve, with
the show kicking off from 5.45pm.
