Visitors to the hallowed ground of
Manuka Oval in February could be
in for something extra special when they
watch the Prime Minister's XI take on
the West Indies.
With the West Indies now
guaranteeing their best team will travel
down under, the crowd can be assured of
a full strength Caribbean challenge.
What most cricketing fans are
salivating about though, is which former
Australian star will take the captaincy
reins. While there has been no secret
of the desire to have recent Twenty20
retiree, and certain crowd pleaser, Ricky
Ponting take to the field, Prime Minister
Rudd will still have a tough choice.
With the likes of Glenn McGrath,
Matthew Hayden, Shane Warne and
Adam Gilchrist to choose from -- fans
wait with baited breath for the selection.
There's only one guarantee -- regardless
of who is selected, people will spill through
the gates of Canberra's premier cricket
ground in eager anticipation.
Manuka Oval is a special place to be for
the Prime Ministers XI. While it is certain
to be a competitive match, what's really
great is the chance to see the future stars of
Australian cricket display their skills.
Who could forget the line up from
the 2009 game? Phil Hughes, Michael
Klinger, Callum Ferguson, Moises
Henriques and of course, Justin Langer
who smashed 72 off 67 balls.

Tasmanian captain George Bailey who
compiled an unbeaten 107, including nine
fours and two sixes, and brought up the

showcase of cricketing skill.
The smell of freshly cut grass and sun

a few champions thrown in for good
