OPEN DAY Monday 26 April
With the sun's rays shining through
copper-tinged autumn leaves,
there is no place you'll rather spend a
lazy Sunday autumn afternoon than in
spectacular Gold Creek.
A visit to Gold Creek Village is a
delightful step back in time.
There are several colonial buildings
scattered throughout the village and as
you mosey through the leafy streets, it's
easy to imagine you are in a small country
town, rather than just 15 minutes from
the Canberra city centre.
The village is located in the Gunghalin
region, on the site of the historic
Ginninderra Village, which dates back to
The settlement included the former
St Francis School of Ginninderra and the
proudly standing historic Ginninderra
Schoolhouse which operated from 1884
Gold Creek Village also houses one of
the oldest buildings in Canberra.
Although relatively new, the village has
more charm and tranquility to offer than
you may expect.
The wide tree-lined streets run
alongside bustling cafés, popular galleries
and museums, antique stores, boutiques,
and much more.
For an ideal weekday or weekend
catch-up spot with friends, make sure you
treat your senses to the newly relocated
Adore Tea. The boutique tea house is a
destination for all tea lovers out there,
serving more than 300 blends of loose
leaf and herbal infusions -- you may find
yourself spending an hour or three sipping
away in the autumn rays.
It may have been a little while since you last visited the peaceful Gold Creek Village -- so why
not make this weekend one for the entire family and spoil yourself with a cruisy afternoon
full of food, galleries and all that jazz? By LOUISE IRWIN
