The rich and bloody colour palette by
leading stage designer Tracy Grant Lord
takes you into the world of two lovers as
they battle against their families in order
to follow their hearts, only to have their
happiness shattered forever.
"(Romeo and Juliet) has a very fresh
look and feel to it, mainly due to Tracy's
designs," Mr Harris said. "When we were
first starting, one of the things we didn't
want was to kill the action with front
cloths coming in and out whilst the set
changed behind, so Tracy came up with
the idea of sweeping the action on and off
the stage with a giant semi revolving set.
It's pretty impressive."
Set to the late composer Sergei
Prokofiev 's ravishing score, this highly
dramatic and visually stunning production
is inspired by the look of Fellini's La Dolce
Vita and Baz Luhrmann's film version of the
Gary Harris' time with the Royal New
Zealand Ballet is soon to come to an end
and, while he will be returning to London
for a while, the work and commitment he
has shown to Romeo and Juliet will surely
remain with him as a highlight in his
