Canberra Show looks like a tiny mouse
wheel from the sky.
We listen to the melodic tunes of
Jackson’s iPod as we fly over paddocks and
farmhouses towards a local winery, Lerida
Estate, where we have a delicious lunch
and wine tasting planned.
Approaching the winery is an
experience in itsself as we marvel the
spectacular views of the vineyard crawling
its way to our meal ahead at Lerida Café.
More than just the five-star winery,
Lerida Estate is known for its sought-
after shiraz viognier and pinot noir and its
ethereal location opposite Lake George.
At the café, I enjoy the delicious brandy
cured smoked chicken and roasted walnut
salad with a glass of 2010 unwooded
chardonnay, and Rohan devours the
Italian beef pie with a glass of 2009 shiraz.

head back to the helicopter where Jackson

feels as if we are flying and even Jackson
has to remind me not to grab the joystick.
I feel like a millionaire in my own
private helicopter as we approach the
helipad at Canberra Airport. The flash of
reality knowing I do not have a chauffer
waiting doesn’t damper my mood, and
after the breathtaking journey, I am elated
that I have experienced Canberra from
